Restoring Walking Ability Through Advanced Foot & Ankle Reconstruction

List

Patients suffering from paralytic foot and ankle deformities often struggle with walking, balance, pain, shoe wearing difficulties, and social embarrassment. Conditions such as foot drop, equinus deformity, equinovarus deformity, clawing of toes, and unstable ankles can severely affect mobility and quality of life. Many patients gradually lose confidence and become dependent on support for daily activities.

These deformities commonly occur due to damage to the nerves or muscles controlling the foot and ankle. Causes include peroneal nerve injury, spinal disorders, trauma, fractures, compartment syndrome, polio, cerebral palsy, Guillain–Barré syndrome, stroke, post-surgical nerve injuries, genetic disorders, infections, and other neurological conditions leading to paralysis or muscle imbalance.

Real patients. Real journeys. Real walking. When no one else could help, they came to Dr. Adnan Firoz Khan — and walked again.

Foot Drop After Knee Surgery

I was also suffering from Foot Drop but got operated two times (Left & Right) by Adnan Sir last year. Alhamdulillah, The first operation (Left) was done in May, and the second (Right) in November. After the successful recovery in my left leg, I had planned for the Right. The movement came in the right leg in just 7 weeks, which I had not expected. Now, this is my New Journey with the help of Adnan Sir by the Grace of Allah. I’m very confident that I will become normal In Sha Allah, and after that, surely, I will come to Aligarh to give special thanks to Adnan Sir. My wish from Allah is that you should go to every corner of the world to heal the patients.

// Understanding the Problem //

Why Do Paralytic Foot Deformities Occur?

Paralytic foot deformities develop when the nerves or muscles controlling the foot become weak or paralyzed. Over time, the imbalance between muscles causes the foot to gradually twist downward or inward, making normal walking difficult or impossible.

These conditions can arise from a wide range of causes. Left untreated, they progressively worsen — yet with modern reconstructive surgery, most can be corrected significantly, even after years of neglect.

What Sets Our Center Apart

Frequently Asked Questions

Can foot drop be cured with surgery?

Yes — in most cases, tendon transfer surgery can significantly restore walking ability. The outcome depends on the cause, duration, and severity of the deformity.

Most patients begin walking with support within 6–8 weeks after surgery. Full functional recovery typically takes 6–12 months with consistent rehabilitation.

Yes. The transferred tendon becomes a permanent part of the foot’s function over time and does not require repeat surgery in most cases.

Yes. Bilateral deformities can be treated — usually in staged procedures with appropriate recovery time between each foot.

Is surgery successful for old, long-standing deformities?

Yes. We regularly operate on deformities that have existed for 5–20+ years. Modern reconstructive techniques achieve excellent results even in long-neglected cases.

Our goal is to restore a plantigrade, stable foot for normal independent walking. The majority of our patients walk unassisted after full recovery.

Absolutely. We regularly treat outstation and international patients. Share your X-rays or walking video via WhatsApp for a detailed initial evaluation.

Cost varies based on deformity type and complexity. Ayushman Bharat card holders are eligible for subsidized treatment. Contact us for a detailed estimate.
